ABOUT THE AMAZON RIVER DOLPHIN
Each spring when the downpours fall in South America, the Amazon River and its feeders start to spill their banks. Ultimately, a large number of square miles of rainforest are overflowed, making a tremendous, tree-canopied ocean.

Into this occasional ocean, which stays for a large portion of the year, swims the Amazon waterway dolphin, or boto. Pink Dolphins have the trademark dolphin grin and, in contrast to their marine cousins, bulbous temples and long, thin snouts. Most strikingly, guys can be pink.

The shading is accepted to be scar tissue from harsh games or battling about triumphs. The more brilliant the pink, the more appealing the guys are to females-essentially during mating season, which happens when the water has subsided and guys and females are bound to the stream channel once more.

During the wet season, nonetheless, females adventure far into the overflowed woodland, prone to get away from the forceful guys. A special transformation lets botos swim effectively among trees and through tangles of branches: unfused neck vertebrae, which permits them to twist at up to a 90-degree point.

Moreover, Pink Dolphins long nose proves to be useful for pulling through waterway mud for shellfish or shooting among branches after little fish. Echolocation permits them to explore and track down prey in obscurity, sloppy water.
Pink Dolphins are the biggest of the four waterway dolphin species, coming to up to eight feet in length and 450 pounds. They have strong flippers and tail accidents and a changed protuberance instead of a dorsal blade.

Male Pink Dolphins now and again beat the water with branches or grasses held in their mouth, or even hold live turtles up high, in romance presentations pointed toward dazzling females. Females bring forth one calf after a pregnancy of 11 to 15 months. The youthful medical attendant for over a year, remaining nearby their moms.

People are the main danger to Amazon waterway dolphins, hunting them for catfish lure or catching them incidentally in gill nets. Conventional Amazonian conviction holds that the Pink Dolphins is a supernatural having the option to appear as a human and come shorewards with a cap to conceal its obvious blowhole. Cool.
