Are pink dolphins rare?

Are pink dolphins rare?

Yes, pink dolphins, also known as Amazon river dolphins or boto, are considered rare. They are one of the few species of freshwater dolphins in the world, and are found only in the rivers of South America, particularly the Amazon and Orinoco river basins.

While there is no precise estimate of their total population, some local populations are known to be small and vulnerable to environmental changes and human activity. The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species lists pink dolphins as "Least Concern," but also notes that their populations are decreasing and that they face threats from habitat loss, pollution, and overfishing. Therefore, there is a need for conservation efforts to protect these unique and fascinating creatures.
